This year, an estimated 46,420 adults in the U.S. will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and 39,590 deaths from this disease will occur. Pancreatic cancer is the ninth most common cancer in women and the fourth leading cause of cancer in both men and women.
Pancreatic Cancer can be difficult to diagnose. As of now, there are no specific, cost-effective screening tests yet to reliably detect the early stage of pancreatic cancer in people who experience symptoms. This results in it being discovered in the later stages when the cancer can no longer be removed with surgery and has spread to other parts of the body.
